Tseng Kwong Chi 

 Tseng Kwong Chi was born in Hong Kong and later moved to Canada when he turned sixteen. He later studied painting and photography in France. Tseng Kwong Chi interest in photography started when he was travelling. He liked how Asians tourist were when they were travelling and so, he wanted to recreate that in his own way. His project on this interest was the East Meets West series, which was portrait photography in different travels spots while wearing Mao suit with dark glasses. His purpose of this series was to show identity, fiction, and the truth of what people may actually think of you. People around him when he was taking the photos would think that he is someone important from Asia. 

This photo was chosen because of the way that he is in motion and the background is still. Most of the time, according to the article, he took his pictures by himself with no help. To get a photo like that, had to be done with a long exposure. The area that he was in, Fountains in Paris, is usually crowded which I found amusing that it wasn't. What is also interesting in the way he took this photo that it was in a popular spot. Most of his photos are in a popular spot for this series because of his goal of being a tourist but with a higher-up outfit to get other tourist attention (plus opinion). Compared to his other photos, he is usually just standing close to wards the camera with the famous spot in a certain state behind him. This photo is just different from the rest but is still connected to the concept that he wanted.

Alec Soth ~Charise J (Digital photography 340)

  Alec Soth   (  Alec Soth | Sleeping by the Mississippi  ) Alec Soth was born in Minnesota in 1969. He went to Sarah Lawerence College. He started as a painter and moved on to be a photographer. During his photography career, he published 25 books about his work. He likes to take photos to make poetry and not document.  His work is kind of similar to mine because we are both connecting the social life of what someone does to the photography life. This is a form of showing people what others don't see. It is a way of understanding something that the person enjoys. I kind of see a connection with the cover because we both are trying to connect it to the theme of the photos before actually seeing the photos.  I want to take photos of people up close with the things that they like. I believe that it's what makes the person what they are today or what keeps them together. The items that a person keeps dear to them are what makes them who they are.

Lee Friedlander ~ Charise J

(Lee Friedlander,  https://fraenkelgallery.com/artists/lee-friedlander  ) Lee Friedlander Lee was a photographer, who photographed objects, city life, and landscapes. He believes that things in the world is art that  stares back at you. As in, when you want to draw or take a picture of an object or anything’s that looks interesting, it’s already something that starring at you waiting to be noticed. When looking for a photo to take, you don’t have to search for it.  Lee Friedlander gave me of an opportunity to expand my view of seeking out art. I chose that photo because of how the structure of the glass vase was giving the stem a bent look. It reminds me of how we use the film cameras to put it in focus because if it isn’t, it will come out looking bent and not straight like it does in front of the camera lens.
