Photography and Digital Art

 Jan Groover (Untiltled, 1987) Jan Groover was born in 1943 in New Jersey. She had won two awards when she was living. She did still-life to show formal composition. Jan wanted use to see if we see imagination or real life. The lighting, scale, and composition of the photos are what she looks for in her photos before she clarifies that it is the best one.  This photo was chosen because I wanted to make something that involves reflection since it is a still-life-themed photo. This makes it seem like anything could be a still-life but you have to turn it into a new thing. Reflection-themed photography is something that I love to look at. What is being shown in the reflection could make it mean something else. The original meaning of the art could change because of the new thing being shown. 

 Peter Yang Peter Yang is a photographer that lives in Los Angles, California. He takes photos of people from around the world. Peter Yang has contributed to Rolling Stones, New York Times, Comedy Central, etc.  This photo was chosen because I am aiming for a photo that looks natural for a portrait. I want the person to feel like they are relaxed and ready to take the photo. The photo that looks off guard would look like a perfect photo that could go viral. A natural background that isn't in the studio would be a perfect type of natural photo because you don't have to worry about light issues if it is bright outside. I have learned that there could be issues with outdoors lighting because the sun would disappear and mess up the ISO/Aperture. Using the flash could help at times, plus photoshop.  ~Charise J

She went to college to get her bachelors degree in psychology and later moved on to get her MFA degree for photography. She likes to take photographs that expresses subcultures and social gathering.  This photo was chosen because I wanted to aim for her movement-type of photos that involved her capture them in the moment. It wouldn't be helpful to me if it was just photos of her pausing to get the moment because my process was trying to get my person through out the process to capture what she does. the difference that I have compared to her is that I did close-ups and my person in color because this was the series of Lindsey Vonn that Litovsky did that I connected with.  ~Charise J

( Self-Portraits — Judy Dater  ) Judy Dater   Judy dater was born on June 21, 1941 in California. Her photography was based on the movie theater that her father had owned. For three years, she went to UCLA to major in art and later went to San Francisco State University, in 1962, to major in photography. This photo was chosen because it connects to what I was aiming for when I did my self-portraits. I wanted to capture myself in a made us background with something that I liked. This photo reminds me that I should feel comfortable in what I like and be around something that I like. When I did that, it included one photo of me with art materials and the other with bookbags and shoes. The others were just close ups of myself to express how I am when people I don't know are around me. My portraits express the two sides of me that people may see.  ~Charise J  

(  Tseng Kwong Chi: Exciting Fall 2018 Updates (mailchi.mp)  ) Tseng Kwong Chi    Tseng Kwong Chi was born in Hong Kong and later moved to Canada when he turned sixteen. He later studied painting and photography in France. Tseng Kwong Chi interest in photography started when he was travelling. He liked how Asians tourist were when they were travelling and so, he wanted to recreate that in his own way. His project on this interest was the  East Meets West series, which was portrait photography in different travels spots while wearing Mao suit with dark glasses.   His purpose of this series was to show identity, fiction, and the truth of what people may actually think of you. People around him when he was taking the photos would think that he is someone important from Asia.  This photo was chosen because of the way that he is in motion and the background is still.
